Featured Programs

Earth Day – Recology SF conducts waste sorting games with employees to encourage proper waste sorting. Complimentary e-Waste recycling is also provided.

Bike to Work Day – Employees are encouraged to bike to work on this day and are provided with a healthy breakfast to start the day off right!

201 Third Street is partnered with Recycle for Change – a nonprofit organization that provides an opportunity for people to drop off surplus clothing, shoes, textiles, and other items in their collection bins. With your donation, Recycle for Change aims to positively impact our environment and support the economy both in the Unites States and abroad as well as to mobilize people and resources to promote sustainable development in the poorest parts of the world. The collection bin is located in the freight vestibule adjacent to the freight elevator and loading dock. LEED Certification

201 Third Street is LEED® certified at the Gold level under The Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance rating system. This certification reinforces our longstanding commitment to developing high performance buildings. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system that evaluates the design, construction, and operation of green buildings. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED buildings provide value for tenants because they perform approximately 25% better than average in terms of energy and water consumption. This translates into cost savings on utility bills and equipment repairs, among other benefits.

WELL Health-Safety Rated

Kilroy is embracing WELL Certifications and Health-Safety Ratings, a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact the health, safety, and happiness of our partners. Being WELL Health-Safety Rated, 201 Third Street has achieved recognition on the following six health-safety themes:

  • Health Service Resources
  • Air & Water Quality Management
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

Fitwel Certification

201 Third Street has achieved Fitwel certification, which is administered by the Center for Active Design. The Fitwel certification system rates the extent to which an existing building promotes positive health outcomes for occupants.  It was created as a joint initiative led by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the General Services Administration (GSA), in addition to experts in public health and design, over a five-year process with  final completion in 2015.

The features that awarded 201 Third’s Fitwel certification, 2 star level include, high Walk Score™, green cleaning programs, availability of healthy food options and comprehensive emergency preparedness programs.

Recycling

Our goal is to divert 95% of our landfill waste to recycling and/or compost by the end of 2018. A higher diversion rate is great for the environment and it lowers our refuse bill – a savings that’s ultimately passed back to you. 201 Third Street is currently at an 80% diversion rate, so we need everyone’s participation to boost that up to 95%!  Click here for more information and tips from Recology.

Green Cleaning

Kilroy Realty has always used the most advanced green cleaning products and practices in all of our buildings. We are constantly searching for the latest information on green cleaning and update our cleaning services whenever we see an opportunity to further minimize the environmental impact of our custodial practices. 201 Third Street has an excellent Green Cleaning program.

Integrated Pest Management

Pest control is an important strategy for maintaining IAQ because both pests (for example, mice) and pesticides can cause health problems. The building strives to minimize pesticide use and utilize non-chemical options where feasible. Sustainable Purchasing

Kilroy Realty understands the significant role material selection plays in the operation of a sustainable building. Throughout a material’s lifecycle, extraction, processing, transportation, use & disposal, there are many negative health & environmental consequences. Environmentally responsible purchasing can significantly reduce that impact. For more information, please visit our Environmental Management System (page 58-61).

Indoor Air Quality

Optimal indoor air quality is vital to good health and cognitive function. We at Kilroy Realty recognize this and as such, have a robust building health program that promotes and verifies great indoor air quality (IAQ). You can find our full IAQ policy here.
